KIDNEY DISEASE | IMPROVING GLOBAL OUTCOMES
MISSION STATEMENT
To improve the care and outcomes of kidney disease patients worldwide through the development and implementation of global clinical practice guidelines.
HISTORY
Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) was established in 2003 as an independently incorporated non-profit foundation governed by an international Board. KDIGO was managed by the National Kidney Foundation, a U.S. foundation with 11 years of experience in developing and implementing guidelines.
WHO? WE ARE
KDIGO is led by an 11 member Executive Committee, which plans and oversees KDIGO’s activities and is chaired by two members, who are elected to serve as co–chairs of KDIGO. The current KDIGO Co–Chairs are David Wheeler, London, UK, and Bertram Kasiske, Minneapolis, USA. For all administrative issues, KDIGO has appointed John Davis as Chief Executive Officer, Danielle Green as Managing Director, Michael Cheung as Chief Scientific Officer, and Tanya Green as Communications Director. KDIGO collaborates with professional medical organizations and because of its global mission, has a particularly strong partnership with the International Society of Nephrology. However, all members of KDIGO work groups and committees are chosen on the basis of their personal expertise and commitment and not as representatives of other organizations.
